Students from Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (UTI) enthusiastically participated in a beach cleaning program. The aim of the program was to restore the once beautiful Sukaraja Beach in Bandar Lampung, Lampung Province. The determined participants from UTI gathered at Sukaraja Beach armed with gloves, trash bags, and a strong determination to make a positive impact. They meticulously combed through the sands, collecting litter and sorting it for proper disposal. This program sought to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment and the role that every individual can play in maintaining a cleaner and healthier ecosystem. The goal was not only to clean the beach but also to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness among the local community. In addition to UTI students, residents and government officials of Bandar Lampung enthusiastically responded to the call for action. The event which was attended by the National Unity and Politics Agency of Lampung Province accompanied by the Vice Rector 4 of the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia marked an important milestone in the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence while tackling urgent global challenges. The Academic Expo, which was held at the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia’s Student Center, attracted participants from various students from all faculties. students get together to explore the boundaries of knowledge and engage in thought-provoking discussions. Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia undoubtedly performed very well in its first participation on UI-Greenmetric World University Ranking in 2021. Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia so-called UTI, has been ranked 45th as the best Indonesian University and the 2nd best Private Universities in Sumatera. This ranking is calculated based on the total performance score of six aspects including setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, education and research. UI-Greenmetric World University Rank is a world university rank focusing on universities’ performance on achieving sustainable development goals. While the whole number of universities participated in this rank is 957, UTI has successfully claimed the 477th position as the best university in the world based on this ranking system. The Vice Rector, Dr. Mahathir Muhammad said that Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia will strive to build academic system that supports research and education done by lecturers and students to achieve the global sustainable development goals. UTI has now been expanding its area and establish green environment to reduce both air and water pollution. In this pandemic situation, it is also worth noticing that UTI has supported local government to reduce the widespread of COVID-19 and become the center of vaccination for people in Bandar Lampung. In addition, UTI has established strategic policy to create system to reduce the use of plastic and paper at campus. Teknokrat Continues Campaigning A Recycling Program for Waste

One of green campus programs conducted by Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (UTI) is the processing of plastic bottle and glass waste. The processing is to reuse the waste by recycling those plastic wastes. The recycling process is to change the function into another purpose. There are several things that can be reported, such as the use of tire which is painted then arranged in between plants (flowers) and plastic bottles which are decorated to be a beautiful vase. This activity will always be programed as a regular treatment for the recycling waste management at Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. It also becomes one of the campaigns. As the Best University in Southern Sumatera Region, it becomes a responsibility to campaign the green campus as a way to the world green. Go Green! In an event, Vice Rector I, Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, SS., MM. said that UTI will always commit and keep campaigning green campus in order to create a better environment for students and all elements in UTI. Furthermore, there are several gardens which have been decorated with the used bottles and glasses. In this case, this activity also engages students from several student organization, such BEM, HIMA, and UKM.

Universitas Teknokrat Established Inorganic Waste Treatment

Through its Department of Facilities, University of Teknokrat Indonesia runs such a system managing the waste treatment in order to differentiate inorganic wastes from other waste types. The department ensures that inorganic waste is treated by following the green aspect of waste management. For example, the department implements the policy of reducing, recycling and reuse (3R). In this case, University of Teknokrat Indonesia is committed to continually integrate sustainable practices to waste management. University of Teknokrat Indonesia has several campaign programs to reduce the use of paper and plastic on campus, such as reduce the use of plastic water bottles by providing water dispenser. In addition to reduce the waste, some specific wastes are treated and sorted to designed recycle facilities. To accommodate the management, recycle bins for inorganic waste are easily found in strategic places around the campus. Plastic, metal and glass are separated at the point of disposal. Metal is treated for other purposes to recycle vendor. Certain types of plastic such as plastic bags and bottles are treated for further recycling process or delivered to the Bank Sampah or other recycle vendors. Glass waste is separated at disposal point and delivered to recycle vendor.
