PKKMB 2026 Teknokrat Supports UI GreenMetric: Planting Herbs, Fertilizing Fruit Plants, and Distributing 1,200 Fish Seeds in TeknoPark
Bandar Lampung – Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, ASEAN’s Best Private University and the Best Private Higher Education Institution in Indonesia known as the Champion Campus, demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability during the Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) 2026.
Through the Green Campus program, Teknokrat organized an event themed “Planting Hope, Nurturing Life, Spreading Sustainability” at TeknoPark Teknokrat on Thursday (September 17, 2026). This activity is a concrete form of support for the international ranking of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, where Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia is recognized as the Best Private University Outside Java that is most concerned about sustainability issues and being an environmentally friendly campus.
The person in charge of the Green Campus PKKMB 2026, Fadila Shely Amalia, S.Kom., M.Cs., one of the top lecturers at Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, reported that the activities include three main actions.
“For the planting of herbal plants, we have prepared 30 seedlings consisting of ginger, lemongrass, turmeric, and galangal. Furthermore, as a continuation of last year’s greening efforts, there are 20 fruit plants that will undergo fertilization and care to continue to grow well,” Fadila stated.
She continued, for the fish dispersal activity, a total of 1,200 fish are prepared. This includes 5 packs of tilapia, each containing 120 fish for a total of 600 fish, and 5 packs of gourami, also each containing 120 fish for another total of 600 fish.
This event was enthusiastically attended by 80 new students participating in PKKMB 2026.
“We hope that through this activity, new students can participate in maintaining the campus environment and build awareness of environmental sustainability from the beginning of being part of the large family of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia,” added Fadila.
Vice Rector: The Champion is a Champion in Life and Care
The Vice Rector of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, S.E., M.M., in his speech, provided deep motivation to the new students.
“Dear students whom we are proud of, welcome to the campus of the Champion. The meaning is that this Champion is not only a champion in competitions but also a champion in change, a champion in motivation, and a champion in our character, traits, and behaviors. And that is far more important than just being a champion in class. Therefore, a champion is a champion in life,” emphasized Dr. Mahathir.
Dr. Mahathir stressed that the Green Campus action is a real action that the best campus students are not enough to just campaign on social media, but must demonstrate small consistent actions every day.
“Great things cannot be realized without starting from small things every day. Indonesia is currently facing many challenges, from volcanic eruptions, forest fires, to floods. This is not separate from human behavior. Therefore, we as students today campaign for concern. The impact may not be too significant today, but if done together, continuously, and sustainably, the impact will be greater,” he said.
Dr. Mahathir also reminded that as the best campus with international rankings in GreenMetric, UTI has various Student Activity Units (UKM) that are very concerned about the environment, such as tree-planting activities with the military, mangrove planting, trash cleaning, and mosque cleaning programs, as well as electrical repairs in the community by lecturers and Electrical Engineering students.
“Students must be more creative. It’s not just about attending classes but also making an impact. The first impact is for ourselves to change for the better, to be more enthusiastic, polite, and then have an impact on society,” he advised.
Dr. Mahathir also invited students to promote these good actions on their social media as part of the best campus’s digital literacy.
Best Campus Supports SDGs and UI GreenMetric
As the best campus that consistently ranks in the UI GreenMetric, the Green Campus PKKMB 2026 activities serve as a tangible implementation of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) alongside its best faculty:
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Planting 30 herbal plants (ginger, lemongrass, turmeric, galangal) and fertilizing 20 fruit plants as an effort for food security and the utilization of productive campus land.
SDG 13: Climate Action – Greening actions as a mitigation measure for climate change, flood prevention, and forest fire, as well as educating new students about the importance of small, sustainable actions.
SDG 14: Life Below Water & SDG 15: Life on Land – Distributing 1,200 fish seeds (600 tilapia and 600 gourami) to maintain the balance of aquatic ecosystems in TeknoPark, as well as caring for fruit plants as a preservation of terrestrial ecosystems.
SDG 4: Quality Education – Shaping the character of the Champion Generation that cares for the environment from day one as students at the best campus.
Through this activity, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia reaffirms its position as the best campus and pioneer of the Green Campus in Sumatra, excelling not only in academics and technology but also as the campus most concerned with environmental sustainability.
