Under the supervision of Fika Trisnawati, S.T., M.T., and Sigit Doni Ramdhan, S.T., M.Eng., the student team led by Kia Awanda Pria successfully designed a micro-hydro system capable of harnessing small-scale river currents as a sustainable energy source. The system integrates a turbine, generator, and a precision power conversion unit to transform low water discharge into stable and efficient electrical energy.

Implementation of Quality Higher Education Through Applied Research

The development of this Micro-Hydro Power Plant goes beyond a classroom assignment. It reflects the practical implementation of quality higher education, where students are encouraged to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world engineering challenges.

Through direct field testing and system validation, the team ensured that the technology was not only conceptually sound but also technically robust and adaptable to various environmental conditions. This applied research process strengthened students’ technical competencies, problem-solving skills, and professional independence as future engineers ready to contribute to industry and society.

Clean Energy Solution for Remote Communities

More than an academic achievement, this micro-hydro innovation offers a strategic solution for rural and remote areas where access to conventional electricity infrastructure remains limited. By utilizing locally available river currents, the system provides an independent, clean, and renewable energy alternative.

This initiative has the potential to foster more self-sufficient, inclusive, and sustainable communities while reducing dependence on fossil-based energy sources. The environmentally friendly nature of micro-hydro technology also supports efforts to lower carbon emissions and promote green development.

Institutional Commitment to Sustainable Innovation

Through this project, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to supporting student-driven innovation that delivers meaningful societal impact. The Micro-Hydro Power Plant initiative aligns with the university’s vision of promoting research-based learning and sustainable technological solutions.

By empowering young innovators in the field of renewable energy, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia continues to position itself as a center of excellence that not only achieves academic distinction but also contributes actively to sustainable national development and community well-being.
